For me the easiest habit for being a successful learner is taking responsibility for my learning. I'm very good about taking classes and seeking for opportunities to learn. I am a massage therapist and I have done many trades with people to learn new skills. Most recently I started trading for violin lessons. I've also been learning how to spin wool using a spinning wheel.
The most challenging habit for me is starting with the end in mind. I find I am not very specific with my learning goals. For instance with starting my violin lessons I am just thrilled to learn anything. I don't have a specific vision for myself and how far I would like to go or what exactly I would like to learn on the violin.

Amy,
I am trying to comment on your blog.
I was able to get to it from home even though blogger said there were possible service violations.
I thought your post was very reflective.
I relate to the spinning portion of your blog, because I do spin, not frequently, but occasionally. I also tend to just plunge in to learn something just for the sake of learning it without any end in mind.
I am impressed that you are doing so many interesting things. How did you get started spinning? I always that that weaving would be an interesting hobby to start, just didn't know how or where to begin.
